Romana
Hasnain-Wynia, PhD is Vice President, Research for the Health
Research and Educational Trust/American Hospital Association.
Dr. Hasnain-Wynia is the principal investigator of a number of
studies examining quality of care for vulnerable populations.
These include the project, Developing a Uniform Framework
for Collecting Race, Ethnicity, and Primary Language Data in Hospitals,
and the project, Linking Race and Ethnicity Data to Inpatient
Quality of Care Measures, both funded by the Commonwealth
Fund. She is the director of the "Consortium for Eliminating
Disparities in Health Care Through Community and Hospital Partnerships."
Dr. Hasnain-Wynia works with the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations as an advisor and member of the technical
advisory panel for the project, Hospitals, Language and Culture:
A Snapshot of the Nation. She serves as a Senior Associate
Editor for the journal, Health Services Service. Prior
to joining HRET, Dr. Hasnain-Wynia was a Senior Research Analyst
for the Center for Health Economics Research and Senior Program
Faculty in Carney Hospital’s Community-Oriented Primary
Care Residency Training Program. She holds a doctorate in Health
Policy from Brandeis University’s Heller Graduate School
for Social Policy.
