Dr.
Kim Eagle is the Albion Walter Hewitt Professor of Internal Medicine,
chief of clinical cardiology and Clinical Director of the University
of Michigan Cardiovascular Center. He oversees a vigorous outcomes
research program focusing on quality, cost-effectiveness, use
of practice guidelines, management of acute coronary syndromes,
evaluation and management of aortic dissection, and use of modern
mathematical models to assess outcomes and risk. His research
on improving quality of myocardial infarction care and using guidelines-based
therapy has shown that Medicare recipients derive substantial
mortality benefit from a guidelines-based approach. Dr. Eagle
has directed numerous extramural programs for the American College
of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association. Dr. Eagle
is editor of the ACC publication Current Journal Review and a
member of the ACC Board of Trustees. He serves the National Heart,
Lung, and Blood Institute as a member of the External Advisory
Committee.
